A Color Story 2.0 for iOS is HERE!

We’re so excited to announce that A Color Story 2.0 is now available for iOS users! Not only did the app get a makeover, we also added some MAJOR changes based on suggestions from you guys.

Grid Planning!
One of the major changes we made in the app was adding grid planning! This will allow you to design, preview, and plan your Instagram feed. No more uploading & deleting to check and see if the photo fits your feed!

Batch Editing!
This is something that we have had several people suggest, and we’re finally here to deliver! Batch edit multiple photos & videos at once with your favorite filters and effects to keep a consistent look. Once you found the look you’re going for, you can add them straight to the grid.

Instagram scheduling!
Once your photo or video is edited and ready to be published, A Color Story will remind you when it’s time to post. You can write your caption inside of the app, then A Color Story will copy your caption and bring you straight to Instagram to post. Easy as that!

We’d also like to mention that the app now supports iPhone X users! If you haven’t had the chance, be sure to update the app inside of the App Store. After you play around with the new features, it would mean SO much for you to leave us a review!

A Color Story 2.0 for Android is still in the works, so stay tuned for an update there!

P.S. Did you hear that we made a new iOS app?! We recently announced that our new design app, A Design Kit, will be coming soon! If you want to stay updated and see photos of the app in action, be sure to follow @adesignkit on Instagram. So, so excited for this one!

A Color Story: Weekend +Pack Tutorial

A Color Story Weekend TutorialIn creating the Weekend +pack, Arielle Vey created each filter with more specific purposes in mind, which means not every filter works for every photo. So we thought it’d be great to have her really talk through the best uses for each filter.

Hi, everyone! Arielle here, and I’m so thrilled to tell you all about the filter +pack I created for A Color Story called Weekend! This pack is filled with warm, rich tones that emulate my style of editing and was truly inspired by my weekends here in Southern California.

A Color Story Tips: Filter Stacking!!

Filter stacking with A Color StoryOne of the big reasons we opted against the VSCO or Instagram model of filtering that doesn’t technically apply a filter until you save is because we knew we wanted to be able to stack filters! Mix and match, save, and make your own flair. So we’re bringing in another AMAZING A Color Story user and master mural-hunter, @rclayton, to talk about her favorite filter combos that can offer a subtle but impactful touch.

Hey, guys! Rosie here, and I’d like to share some of my favorite A Color Story filter combinations with you. Layering various ACS filters can really make your photos come alive. Each filter you layer on will pull out different color elements in your photo and pop varying features. This creates more depth and interest in your photo. I find that the order in which the filters are applied makes a difference in the final photo since each filter is playing off the previous color edit. After I play around with the filter combinations, I make small adjustments with tools and curves to finalize my edit.  Continue reading “A Color Story Tips: Filter Stacking!!”

A Color Story: Tips for a Deeper, Richer Photo

Cali waves
We’ve invited another one of our favorite A Color Story users and all-around BOSS photographer, @ariellevey, to share her secrets on creating her signature photo style.

Hey, guys! It’s Arielle, and I’m back with more tips and tricks on how to elevate your photos using (my fave) A Color Story. Today I’ll be touching on how I edit my photos on a regular basis and how to achieve rich, dramatic tones. I’ve been editing this way since iPhone editing apps came out, but since ACS was born, I’ve had much more flexibility with my options. A Color Story: Curves Tutorial

A Color Story Curves Tutorial
Hey, guys! Long time no… blog? I’m Sarah from Arrow & Apple, and it’s great to be back around on ABM. I’m pumped to share with you guys a little bit about the curves tool in the A Color Story app! I love the curves tool (you’d be hard-pressed to find a photographer who doesn’t) because it gives you a lot more control in editing the tones of your image and getting each image looking JUST right. A Color Story Filters: Shifting Colors

How to shift colors with A Color Story app
Hey, everyone! I’m Arielle, a photographer with a focus on lifestyle and abstract nature. I was so thrilled to be a part of the A Color Story test group. As soon as I opened up the tool box, I noticed so much more than your standard set of altering mechanisms. Today I’ll be touching on how to utilize hue shift as well as how it works with the main color tools. So, what is hue exactly? It’s a variety or shade of any given color in the spectrum. If you’ve experimented with hue shift already, you may have noticed that it can be very dramatic or give off a psychedelic vibe. Essentially, I’ll be showing you examples of photos where the entire image can be shifted to a totally different color while maintaining the original integrity and the best types of images to use while doing so. A Color Story Filters: Tips for Interior Photographs

Before and After! Edited with A Color Story app

Hey, guys! Jeff Mindell here. I’m a freelance photographer based out in L.A., and I guess it’s no secret I really like taking photos. I lead a fairly hectic (but fun!) life and am always on the go. I take so many photos on my phone and am always looking to streamline my editing process.

At this point, you can basically do anything you want editing-wise with mobile, but it wasn’t until a few months ago when I started playing around with A Color Story (I was a part of the test group) that I realized how attention to color vibrancy was lacking in the app space. I’m pretty stoked at how user-friendly this app is along with the attention to detail when it comes to tools and image manipulation!

For me, I really love shooting bright and airy interior spaces (check out my #jminteriorspaces hashtag on Instagram!), and lately I’ve been using A Color Story to really help my images pop. Let’s dive in! Continue reading “A Color Story Filters: Tips for Interior Photographs”

A Color Story Filters: How to Make Colors Pop!

Rosie Clayton's favorite A Color Story filters!

Happy Saturday, everyone! Rosie here! I hope you’ve had a fun time exploring all the fun filters and tools in the A Color Story app.

I’m so excited to share my favorite A Color Story filters for fashion and colorful backdrops, two things I love to photograph most! Although I definitely have a few go-to filters that I check before others, there’s no rule as to how each filter will affect your photo—it all depends on the colors and scene that you’re working with in your picture. I think this element makes the ACS filters so unique and able to produce the most varied range of images! I’m going to show you a few examples of three types of looks I showcase in my Instagram feed (@rclayton): looks that pop against a colorful background, looks that compliment a colorful background, and looks that match a colorful background. I’ll go over each of the filters I used for the photos so you can see how they affect each image. Continue reading “A Color Story Filters: How to Make Colors Pop!”
